At 67-74% attenuation, 1332 finishes less dry than the Chico strains, leaving more body and residual malt character behind, and its high flocculation means it clears reasonably quickly once fermentation slows. American pale ale and other Pacific Northwest-style ales reach for it specifically when a brewer wants real fruitiness and body rather than a blank canvas for hops — a genuine alternative to the ubiquitous Chico lineage for a brewer wanting the region's beer culture to show up in the yeast choice as well as the hop bill. Fermented toward the cooler end of its range it stays relatively restrained; pushed warmer, its fruitiness becomes more pronounced, the same general pattern most moderately ester-forward ale strains follow. It's less widely stocked outside the Pacific Northwest itself, so brewers elsewhere wanting this specific character sometimes need to plan ahead through mail order rather than expecting to find it on a typical local shop shelf.
