What's reliably true is the flavour output: a spicy, fruity, classically Belgian profile that reads recognisably "Trappist-adjacent" to drinkers familiar with the style family.

1214 produces a combination of fruity esters (often described as pear or apple-adjacent) and spicy phenolic notes, with the balance between the two shifting across its 65-75°F range — cooler fermentation leans the balance toward fruit, warmer fermentation brings the spice forward more, a milder version of the same temperature-driven shift that defines T-58's much wider range. 1214's own range is narrower, which makes it a somewhat more forgiving strain for a brewer who doesn't have precise fermentation temperature control.
